Dual Credit Online Courses
North Dakota State College of Science is offering high-tech, on-line courses available to high school students for dual-credit. Earn both high school CTE (Career and Technical Education) and college credit while taking these courses over the internet. Each course is 3 credits and 100% on-line. No pre-requisites are required! NANO 101 (Fall) & 102 (Spring): Fundamentals of Nanoscience I and II explore the new and rapidly emerging fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Learn what changes at the nanoscale and how everyday products are taking advantage of these properties. Equipment exists to not only fabricate, but also analyze at the nanoscale. So ‘Get into Nanoscience’ and find out how this tiny technology is making some big strides!
BIOF 101 (Fall) & 102 (Spring): Fundamentals of Alternative Energy and the Environment I and II provides an overview of the alternative methods of energy production currently available for use and those that are nearing implementation. Going beyond petroleum-based energy, a wide variety of options exist with their own economic and environmental impact. Energy is at the forefront of the world’s concerns, so learn more about these alternatives and what our future holds!
BIOT 101 (Fall) & 102 (Spring): Introduction to Biotechnology I & II provides an overview of biotechnology, historical development, current and future status and the technologies used to achieve the progress to date. All aspects of biotechnology’s impacts on our society are explored including the agriculture, medical, food science, pharmaceutical and environmental segments. Although Biotechnology is one of the oldest and strongest of all of the high-technology segments of the U.S. and global economy, there are aspects of this industry that will greatly impact your health, the way we live and the environment in which we live.
